Panda and Penguin were both updates to parts of the old Google search algorithm. Hummingbird is a replacement of the whole algorithm. However, Panda, Penguin, and some of the other algorithms are now built into Hummingbird.

The Penguin recovery strategies are still very relevant since that algorithm is in play now even more than ever. Penguin deals mainly with the backlinks to a website, whereas Hummingbird seems to deal with how websites function across different browser types, operating systems, and platforms, and is also allowing Google to move away from keyword based search to a better understanding of conversational search terms.
